“The Harlem Arts Alliance Presents: On The ‘A’ w/Souleo”

TheHarlem Arts Alliance, an arts service organization celebrating its 10^thanniversary, is proud to announce its content production partnership with Souleo Enterprises, LLC. The first project under this collaboration is the weekly round-up column, “Harlem Arts Alliance Presents: On The ‘A’ w/Souleo,” which will cover the wide array of cultural events and experiences connected to Harlem’s legacy throughout New York City. The blog will be hosted on the Harlem Arts Alliance website and will soon be syndicated via select media outlets.

“We believe that this initiative represents a great new opportunity to highlight the vitality of the arts and culture in Harlem,” stated Michael Unthank, executive director of the Harlem Arts Alliance.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a media professional is helping to bring light to great leaders and organizations. Now segue to the Harlem School of the Arts and you know exactly what I mean, as this establishment empowers our youth through artistic development. It’s not an easy mission but if anyone is up for the challenge it is, Yvette L. Campbell. But did you know that she was a former dancer? You can discover her inspiring journey here.

A few years ago I had the pleasure of interviewing “Soul Train” founder, Don Cornelius @ NARM’s annual convention. It was an exclusive and rare opportunity since he is retired from the public eye. Now I am just as pleased to present my interview with Kenard Gibbs, the CEO of “Soul Train.” You may have caught the awards show last night but check out this article to get to know the inner workings of the legendary Soul Train brand.

Over the past weekend I took on the task of spearheading a new weekly business feature on RollingOut.com   Every week I will profile an amazing business leader based in New York City.  It’s an exciting project since there are so many powerful, influential and inspiring individuals out there.  For the launch I profiled a few fabulous divas starting with Denim Lounge owner Wendy McLean, BBRAXTON’s Brenda Braxton, Food for Life Supreme Restaurant’s Esmeralda Molinar and Sisters Caribbean Cuisine owner Marlyn Lawrie-Rogers.

On my anniversary vacation in London I made a scene, literally.  Check out the video with my appearances at the 1:20 and 1:30 mark here My love and I with the assistance of artistic volunteers created the jumper you see me modeling at the 1:30 mark.  It’s all part of an amazing arts & crafts project entitled, I, Culture which you can learn more about via the aforementioned link.

These are the brave faces of the folks I selected for my BlackEnterprise.com piece on the 10 most significant openly LGBTQ people of color who have broken ground in their respective fields.  For those wondering where is Langston Hughes on this list–well, the subjects had to be openly LGBTQ and not heavily rumored to be so.  I know I’m missing some folks so let me know who you wish was included.

So it’s a recession or depression depending on whom you ask.  Either way no one wants to quit their job these days when prospects for employment are so dim.  Still sometimes quitting is the best way to come out a winner.  Check out my piece on knowing when to quit for BlackEnterprise.com
